I saw the movie before purchasing the book. I couldn't believe how the "professional critics" trashed the movie. The story moved me like few ever have. The power of a story to touch people's hearts should never be dismissed. People can have their mindless shoot-em-up, bang-em-up super hero "action" flick. The Book Thief touched me, moved me, had me pondering it long after I left the theater. As am author, that's the kind of power I want my stories to have.
